free up system resources and find modem speed

Asked by screamingdazeez in Windows 95 Operating System

I have a Gateway Pentium II pro 300mhz 64mb w/ Windows 95. When my computer starts up, many small programs start up with it. There are several icons in my taskbar that take up system resources and more in my system tray. All slow down my computer. My question is: how do I free up my system for peak performance? How do I get rid of those icons in my taskbar every time I boot up?
In addition to that I do not know how to find out what speed my modem runs at? 14.4 or 28.8 or 36.6 or 56k? Thank you for your help.Start Free Trial
