network printer

I have 2 computers on my home network. I can share files/internet connection but not my HP printer. Both machines run WIN98SE. The pc that has the printer works fine. The other pc gives me this, When ever I open MS Word, Wordpad, or just want to check properties of the network printer from the remote pc, I get a "GPF in modual HPWIN02.DLL" and then the program I'm in shuts down. I have re-installed Win98 and also printer drivers on the offending pc with no luck.
            Thank You Bruce

How is the printer defined in the other PC?  By UNC name \\machinename\printer?  Or do you have some kind of printer sharing device?

Also refer to Microsoft's KBASE on Wi98 peer networks:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q250/9/27.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0
What kind of printer have you got?  DeskJet 722?  680?

For some reason, HP made some of their printer drivers non-networkable.  The only workaround I know of is to use a similar driver (like from the 660, say).

So if you have one of the non-networkable printers, look for a driver of a similarly-numbered printer and see how it goes.

Or go to MicroWarehouse's site, buy a refurbished Epson Stylus 740 for $65 (after rebate), and leave the HP as a local printer.  If you buy the Epson, buy Amazon Imaging Corp. cartridges for it, and you'll save even more.  And soon you'll find the HP gathering dust.
Look in Network properties in control panel.  There is a button that says "File and print sharing"  Click on the button.  I suspect file sharing is turned on, but not print sharing.
