Lost wab.dll

I cannot send email anymore (Outlook 2000 - Win98) due to a missing wab.dll file.  Must have removed it by accident.  Where can I find this file or how can I get my machine working again?

A similiar problem was at this site and this is what fixed it.
"I used the Win98 SE cd (add/remove software) to reinstall Address book. This corrected the problem. I had a friend with the same problem. It seems just reinstalling the address book from the Windows cd Corrected his problem"

Geertgeert, not knowing which specific dll that you're missing.

If repair for Outlook2000, put your MsOffice2000 cdrom disk in the cdrom and open the Outlook200-help-Detect and Repair. It will repair your missed files for outlook2000.

If the missing wab*.dll is from Outlook Express, go to the Control Panel-Add/remove program, Internet Explorer and Internet Tools, click Add button and reselect the Outlook Express to reinstall.

Also please check within OE5 or OE5.5 that you associated your address book not linked with Outlook2000. If that is your case, advise me for further elaboration after extraction of missed files and the problem still persists.

Message: "Windows Address Book (WAB) is missing" or "Missing WAB.DLL file"  "An error occurred while attempting to open the WAB. Unable to find the WAB.DLL."

Q: When I try to open the Windows Address Book in Microsoft Outlook 98, one of these error messages appears. What can I do to resolve this issue?

A: These messages indicate that the file WAB32.DLL is missing or damaged. Please follow the instructions provided in Microsoft's knowledge base. At the time of this writing, the information could be found at the following location:
          http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q189/3/96.asp

This document basically states to search for WAB32.DLL, rename it to .OLD, and then reinstall Outlook Express.
If the message "WAB32.DLL could not be found" occurred after you uninstalled Sidekick 98, you will need to edit the registry.

*WARNING* Be extremely careful when editing your registry to delete only what is specified here. Deleting or changing anything else could result in serious problems running Windows 95 or other applications. We recommend backing up your registry before proceeding by making a backup copy of USER.DAT and SYSTEM.DAT. These are hidden files and can be found in the Windows folder. Consult your Windows documentation and your network administrator for additional help backing up your registry files.

Choose Start | Run | type: REGEDIT | OK
Go to the following registry key:
               HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs

Check the following string value: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\wab32.dll by double-clicking it and ensure the Value data is set to 1 if only Outlook is installed. If Sidekick 98 is also installed, the Value data should be set to 2.

Good luck
