upgrade to SE with Full version CD

Hi,

I currently have Win98 first edition.  I have Win98 SE full version on CD.  Is it possible to install the Win98 SE full version to my system without having to mess anything else up on my machine?  I think I remember something about changing a file extension and then trying to overwrite the current version with the full version but can't remember exactly how that all works.

Thanks for any help,

To extend asyscokid's advice:

When "starting windows 98" appears hit F8 and in the menu choose "command prompt only".
Now type this command and hit enter
rename c:\windows\win.com c:\windows\win.old
put in the win98se cd and reboot the computer.
This should start the installation.
When it eventually asks you where to install, probably c:\windows.000, edit this so it says c:\windows and go on with the installation. You will not loose any applications this way.

Just so that it is said, a clean install is always better, but ofcourse takes a lot longer to make. :~)
