98 browse master
I have a windows 98 machine that insists on being a browse master on the network.

Question:  How to make a 98 machine NEVER be a browse master?

I do not disagree with this, but I had to deal with the same problem, and I think I can add this as an aside...
The thing you control in the above comment is the "Computer Browser". The "master browser" is determined with some sort of election process, probably involving the other computers having computer browser enabled. There will be some fighting over this... If you have an NT machine included, the event log will record a lot of notices about "Master Browser" and election processes. As stated above, you have the opportunity to disable the browser. This should solve the problem.

Thanks!  We had turned sharing off on this machine right after I posted this.

I assume turning off sharing will disable it as well?

One would certainly think so...
