Restoring the Recycle bin icon

My recycle bin icon has suddenly disappeared from my windows 98 desktop.  I don't know what happened.

How can I restore the recycle bin icon?

Start-Run-SFC and see if that helps.  Have your 98 CD ready to restore any files it needs.
You also might want to try TweakMe, available from http://www.download.com (run a search for TweakME, it's for all versions of Windows, not just ME!). There is an option that lets you check what shows on your desktop- and there is a box for the Recycle bin.

Advice- if that box is checked, clear it, hit Apply, check it, hit OK.

If it's got no check, then check it!

dante53,

Right-click on the desktop, choose properties, click the Effects tab and change it here.

Actually, the app is TweakUI:

http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-1461985-100-2830963.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-7-1.2830963

Try this before messing with your Registry!

Or use Tweak All (if you can find it, use TweakAll 1, not 2)
It give a lot more freedom than Tweak UI.
Tweak All 2 requires downloading and installing libraries, whereas tweak all 1 uis a neat package. You can edit allkinds of different settings, or screw your PC up good and proper!!!
It's harder to screw up your system with TweakUI, although it can be done...

and remember, for grading purposes, it was my idea first ;-)

I have already solved the problem.

Thanks for your help.
You put a lot of time and effort into something, and that's what you get in return.
NICE.

I thought all the while I've already accepted comment from Reghakr as solution to my problem.  As soon as I read his (Reghakr) comment about editing the Registry, I tried it and it solved my problem.

I was just wondering why it was not posted and suddenly, I've got another posted comment regarding my problem.  This prompted me to send comment that I've already solved my problem using reghakr comment.

Sorry for that and thanks to reghakr.

Happy Holidays to all of you.
You need to use the ACCEPT AS ANSWER button at the top right of the comment to accept the answer.  Go for it.
Thanks dante,

You made an honest mistake, my comment was geared toward those who abuse the system.

That's one way to get a response I guess.
