vnetbios.vxd
after installing win98se i get the following---- vnetbios.vxd.----Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application.
The Windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device, but the device file no longer exists ...
If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file. it's not on the win 98 disk. Where do i find this file? how do i install it? thanks, Dave

You could do a Start-Run-SFC and have it replace that file and/or check for corrupted system files. You could also do a Start-Run-REGEDIT and do a search for that file and remark the line that it is on. Be careful if you edit the registry since it could make your OS completely useless.

Do you have Norton Antivirus on this computer? If so try re-installing it.
In addition to the above.
1)Get the newest NIC drivers, and any other communications related drivers for your machine.
2) Remove any unused protocols in the Network properties.
3) Check the device manager for any devices that are not working
I hope this helps !

You may need to remove ALL networking components and re-install them.
Control Panel > Network
This can be a little tricky without removing ALL the network Clients/Adaptors/Protocols .

The vnetbios.vxd file can also be found on the Win98SE setup CD in the WIN98 folder, inside the NET9.CAB file.
All you need is compression software to view the contents of the .CAB, find the vnetbios.vxd file, select it, extract it to the Windows\System subfolder, restart the system, and voila.
Any problems that you may have had are now fixed.
Hope this helps.

usually, when you have these types of problems you are missing all of them, tried what you suggested a few times, it worked once, remove/reinstall whole network is susally faster.
