Split points between sunray_2003 and rayt333 who both specifically discussed warnet.com. I just embellished what they had stated.
If you can't easily find a setting to turn this off, and it perpetually forces your browser to their page, then I would recommend that you uninstall it.
Have a look at their "privacy policy"
http://www.warnet.com/privacy.htm
I don't like a few of the implications in there, especially this >>> "Communications from Warnet, such as service announcements and administrative messages, are considered part of Warnet service and you may not opt out of receiving them" <<<.
They have 3 products:
1. Anti popup system
2. Evidence Eliminator
3. Anti adware system
Instead, you would be better off using the following:
1. Pop-Up Stopper by PanicWare Free Edition http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html
2. Deleting your Temporary Internet Files and History folder, recent documents, and cookies manually.
3. Adaware by LavaSoft http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Adaware does have "integrated reference file updating capability that will include the ability to search for new reference files automatically when Ad-aware is started", but it's easy to turn off. Compare the privacy policy "http://www.lavasoftusa.com/privacy.shtml". Remember here that personal identification doesn't count, because you will be using the Free version.
The same is true of Popup Stopper when it comes to automatic updates - easy to turn this off. Their privacy policy is up-front but won't affect you using the free version.
You should also look at running a scan on your system with:
HijackThis : http://www.webattack.com/download/dlhijackthis.shtml
listed by Sunray_2003. It's easy to use and does a fine job. In all likelihood it will identify warnet registry entries in any of the keys listed by Sunray.
You might also want to open your Windows Folder and either delete the "hosts" file, or open it in NotePad and delete the contents. This text-based file is often used by unwelcome and intrusive programs to do just what is happening on your system.
