How Change Screen Graphic During Boot on ME
Hi All-
I am working on a Compaq Presario 5000 with an AGP graphics card.
Recently during boot, after the ME screen shows and during Network Logon, the background image is a weird tiled image.
Then as the computer loads Active Desktop, the image disappears and the regular background is present. It does the same thing at shutdown.
Nothing new has been installed on the desktop and the drivers for the video card are working and up to date.
Does anyone know what this is and how I get rid of it?
Thanks
:-)

yea that was for the ME splash screen, my bad
Here is for after the ME spash screen.
You can just go to your desktop properties click on background tab go up to none select none and hit apply then go back to the background you want and hit apply. Now when the tiled image screen used to come up it will just be a solid color desktop. Whatever color you have selected to show on your desktop.

here is a link to where those images are stored.

But the fix i posted just before this should clear out the image and set it to blank. If not you can open these files and set them to a blank image.

I'm not trying to get under your skin but the background is set to none.
The "blue" Windows standard background actually momentarily loads before the active desktop loads.
It is right before this during the network logon phase. Somewhere there is a setting that controls background during the network login phase....has to be.
I'd send you what I see if I could...thanks for hanging in with me.
The link is for the logos again.

Another suggestion, you could scan for viruses using at least one of these free, recommended scanners:

Couldn't get into BIOS.....weird.
Showed COMPAQ logo and that was it....no option for getting into BIOS.
Anyways....I went back and reapplied "None" as the background and then it maintained the blue screen.
(Even after I changed background to a pic)
It must have inherited the pic temp fom somewhere.
All were partial right so I'll split points :-)
Thx for the help.

Glad you managed to clear it.

FUROG,
>> Couldn't get into BIOS <<
Matter of interest, did you try this?
For Compaq Presario: Press <Alt> <Ctrl> <Esc> at boot when you see the "Compaq" log in big letters
Glad to help. .. thank you.

You are talking about disabling the ME logo at boot (usually for quicker loads)?
