How to stop chkdsk at boot time??
Is there a way to stop chkdsk (or bypass chkdsk) once
it's been enable (autochk) for boot time (Windows NT 4.0)??
Chkdsk hangs at 99% completion on my system drive.
TIA.

Rename the file called autochk.exe and it will no longer run autochk at boot up time. Let me know.
Microsoft Windows NT Tip from www.tipworld.com
STOP THAT CHKDSK
Versions 3.5, 3.51, 4.0
If you run CHKDSK /F /R from a command prompt, the system asks if
you want to run CHKDSK the next time you start the system. Suppose
you answer Yes and then later decide that you'd rather not run
CHKDSK on the next restart.
To stop a scheduled CHKDSK, you have to edit the Registry. So be
careful.
Run RegEdit32 and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentCon trolSet\Co ntrol\Ses
sion Manager. Now double-click on BootExecute. When the dialog box
opens, change the value to autocheck autochk *. and click on OK.
Close RegEdit32. When you restart, CHKDSK /F will not run.

At this point I can not even get into WinNT to edit
the registry. I will try wayneb's suggestion.
Thanks.
the registry. I will try wayneb's suggestion.
Thanks.
Hi :)
Simply why not use the last known good option. Since the NT has never booted to the gui your previous registry setting do not have this auotcheck enable. So just simply choose last know good option during bootup and hopefully u should bypass this checking.
