windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer

In my System Windows XP professional , Pentium III 450 Mhz, Sis6326 8MB graphics card with 192 MB Ram is installed. When i play any game then i got an error " A Problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer". The problem seems to be caused by the following file: Sisv256.dll. Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area." And system reboots after 80-90 seconds. Can you tell me how to solve this problem.

Anyone knows............
ashras99,

it sounds like a video card problem.  It is an older card.  XP may not like it very much.  Have you tried to use the latest video card drivers?

This site lists drivers from as old as win 3.1 to WinNT4.  But no XP:
http://www.helpdrivers.com/ingles/company/SIS/6326.htm

This one has drivers for up to 2k:
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=sis+6326&tg=dl-2001

9x drivers to win2k but no XP:
http://www.savagenews.com/drivers/sis/sis6326.html

Try these (they say 2k/XP but sometimes that doesnt work) try at your own risk:
http://www.helpdrivers.com/ingles/tpv/download.asp?codigo=718

But something tells me your video card may not be liked by xp.  Out of all the sites, I only found one with XP drivers (sorta 2k/xp drivers.)

Maybe updating to a newer video card might be helpful.  What games are you playing?

There are newer cards out there and better cards with more ram on them.  If you support AGP you can get even older 32 mb cards for $21.00 (and up)+ shipping and tax if necessary.

Here is an example:

ECS AG305P SiS305 AGP 2X Chipset 32MB Video Card - RETAIL BOX 128-bit 3D Graphics Engine. High Performance 128-bit 2D Accelerator. 24-bit true-color RAMDAC, 270MHz pixel clock, resolution up to1920x1440 256 colors 60Hz NI.

$21.00 + $5.00 shipping +tax.
www.newegg.com
is the website.

If you are looking for a decent card that will keep you running for a while.  As well as take to a newer computer if you choose to upgrade that as well for under $100.00:

GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT MX420, GeForce 4 Power Pack Pro/450TV, Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 420, high speed 64MB DDR, TV-Out. Nview display + EXPERTtool performance tuning utility for enhanced setting.Retail box.
$74.00+$6.00 Shipping+tax.

all at www.newegg.com
You can try other sites.  I usually shop at newegg.
If you have any other questions let me know.  And let us know your progress on your machine.
But i install the latest drivers for my Video card and other some 3d games runs well like "No one Lives Foreever".

It is possible that one of your memory chips is bad.
Try removing one of your simms and, through process of elimination, determine if that is the problem.
ashrah99,

well, that Sisv256.dll is a dynamic link file related to your video card.  What games or programs do you get this particular error from?

sisv256 may mean something about 256 colors?  and that is when it errors out?  I am just grasping at straws.  But just a thought.  Try setting the colors to 256 when playing that particular game or program?

Like I said it could be bad memory modules on the card.  The card it self may not be bad.  Just that the memory modules could be failing.  And if a certain game or program accesses that particular module, you may get errors or problems.  Only way to resolve that is to either get a new video card or replace the bad memory modules if it is possible to do so on your card.
