Error msg
Does anyone know what this error message could be?
Category: (102)
Evt Code: 1003
Error code 0000000d1, Parameter1 e160628b, Parameter2 00000002, Parameter3 00000000, Parameter4 fc954da1
According to kBase the 0X000000D1 code means DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQ UAL
The PC automatically reboots at random intervals and that is the error message that is left in the sysevents log.
It's a Pentium III (Slot 1) PC with 256 MB of Memory (of which it only recognizes 128, but that's another problem -- I've already flashed the BIOS but it still won't recognize the full 256MB of memory).

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/w2kmsgs/1129.asp - this article is W2k-related, but should apply for XP also.
Check out what it says here and see if it applies

" Incidently. I've never had a problem with XP Pro, however. Purchased and installed McAfee Virsu Scan 6.0 tonight and BANG! That error comes up EACH and EVERYTIME I attempt to use their Technical Chat support. I get it when I try and type a response to them in chat. "

It is a strange error but in my case this error appeared once and it was caused by bad RAM which made whole system unstable. Experiment a little with your RAM...

I think I started getting the error message after installing either my Zoom USB modem or new HD.
Sending error reports to Microsoft hasn't been to helpfull with this one.

Have you installed any hardware or drivers or programs that install their own drivers lately. If so then this may be the cause of the problem. Faulty RAM could be at the root of this as well.

>>>of which it only recognizes 128
Is the BIOS only recognizing 128 or just XP? If it is XP where are you looking to verify what XP is seeing?
If you are looking in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
under
Systems Tools > System Information > System Summary
Then don't believe what it says because there is a bug that misreports the RAM on some systems.
My Computer > Properties under the general tab usually reports the correct amount as does the Task Manager.
