No AGP Texture Acceleration

I'm running Windows XP Pro. My video card is a 3dfx VooDoo 3 2000 (AGP); monitor is a CTX 1765. Here's the problem:
When I run DirectX Diagnostics Tools and goto the 'display' tab I have DirectDraw, and Direct3D. However, I don't have AGP Texture Acceleration; this feature is greyed out and says "Not Available". I had all the same hardware with Windows 98 and this feature worked fine. Thus, it's a Windows XP problem...or possibly a directx problem. I'm currently using DirectX 8.1.

Can someone please help me get the agp texture acceleration working again?  I'm trying to setup this computer for my daughter for schoolwork and gaming.

Thx.

I am not 100% sure about this, but you might want to upgrade the driver for the Voodoo 2 3000. Unfortunately since 3dfx is no more you would have to rely on 3rd party drivers which you can find at www.voodoofiles.com.

It seems that Windows XP installed its default drivers for you graphics card and in most cases the included drivers aren't complete (i.e. they let you use 2D so you can work in Windows XP, but they lack certain 3D functionality.)

Although the above installation of new drivers might work for your problem, I do suggest that you upgrade to a nVidia or ATI based card since 3dfx no longer exists and over time it is going to get progresivelly harder to find updated drivers, especially with the release of DirectX 9.0 just around the corner.

You're probably right. It's really a crappy card and I've already upgraded the drivers as much as possible..using 3rd party drivers. I guess my only solution is to try another card. However, I tested it with a GeForce2 when I had Win98 and it wouldn't work with the sys...so I had to put the 3dFx back in.

Anyway, thx.
If you have problems with the GF2, you can always come on here and ask about them! I know there are certain motherboards (the old Abit KA7 I had, for one) whose power regulation circuits don't like GF2s, with the result they do the "I have no video card" beeps on a cold boot--usually hitting RESET will allow them to boot normally if this happens, though.
