Microsoft Outlook address book transfer

I just transferred all files to a new computer...now, when I'm in Microsoft Outlook and drafting an email, when I click on the address book, it says "the address list could not be displayed.  The contact folder associated with this addresss list could not be opened:  it may have been moved or deleted or you do not have permissions."  I looked in help and found no help.  When I open the contact list, all information is there for individual people, and I can send an email by going to actions, but NOT by clicking on the address book icon in a new email....also,  when i click on a GROUP, the name of the group is there but there are no longer addresses in it.  Please help....

3. Address Book
Getting the data out of your address book for safekeeping is relatively easy. From the menu select File | Export | Address Book and select the comma separated text file as your output format. Then select the fields you want to export. To make sure you know where the backup is going, give a full path name. To restore the address book or to get your addresses onto a new system, the process is not quite symmetrical. Select File | Import | Other address book and select the text file option again. You'll be given a list of fields to import. Since you're importing a file that was created by Outlook Express, you usually don't need to make any changes here. After that, click your way on through the wizard and you'll get your address book back.

I think you Outlook address book is not install in Outlook.
What version of Outlook are you using?

1. High lit Contact -> Right click -> Properties -> Outlook Address Book -> "Check" show this folder as e-mail address book.

More simply right click on the contracts folder you want to use, choose the Outlook Address Book tab and check the box saying "Show this folder as an email address book".

I had the same problem and this fixed it.
