Recycle Bin Problem !
Recently, I'm having a strange problem with the Recycle Bin...
When I click on [Empty Recycle Bin], it shows the number of files to confirm (for instance 17). I click [Yes] and it empty all of them except for 6. I can not see those files in Exploring the RECYCLED folder. When I click on the Norton Unerase Wizard, I get the message:
Critical Message:
Unable to access the Recycle Bin data file because it is already in use.
I can still see the recently deleted files but no trace of the 6 that are supposed to be left to delete.
If I click again on [Empty Recycle Bin], it shows 6 files to delete. I click [Yes]. It does the sound of deleting but the icon of Norton Protected Recycle Bin stays the same.
Can anybody tell me how to get back to normal functionning of the Recycle Bin?
Thank you very much

Thank You for all your suggestions but I tried all of them and none ruled my problem. My Recycle Bin icon always shows my Recycle Bin is not empty, even if the Recycle Bin is effectively empty and If I click again on [Empty Recycle Bin], it shows "6 files to delete".
In fact, my Recycle Bin works well. only these three annoyances to overcomer:
1- The message:
Critical Message:
Unable to access the Recycle Bin data file because it is already in use.
Even there is no other program launched at the fresh boot of my system.
2- My Recycle Bin icon always shows my Recycle Bin is not empty, even if the Recycle Bin is effectively empty
3- If I click again on [Empty Recycle Bin], it shows "6 files to delete" even if I can't file no trace of these files nowhere.
Even with Norton Works uninstalled, the problem is the same.

Thank you for an additional effort!

Thank you for these new suggestions, Shivsa and War1, but sorry again, your suggestions did not change anything after applying them.
I keep on asking and searching on my side to find and explanation of this strange behavior of the Recycle Bin wich, after all, has lost nothing of its functionnality.
If anyone gets a solution, let me know.
Best wishes to all of you for the new year.

Dear SheharyaarSaahil and Shivsa
Thank you for your comments of 01/03/2004 and 01/25/2004. I read it carefully and again, nothing in neither ruled my problem. I deleted The Recycle Bin folder. It was recreated and the same problem stayed. I uninstalled Norton Utility. The problem is still there again. I even thought that my question was badlly explained. So I read it again. But the problem is faithfully explained. Finally, you must understand that the functions of my Recycle Bin are fully operational. It just behaves strangely as I explained.
I encountered this problem before with my previous PC. This problem was ruled after formatting and reinstalling all my system. But this time, I want to rule it without doing that because it takes too much time to do and, since my system works well I can live with that. I just think that someone could have met this same problem and one day, give me the right cure for it.
Thank you again. I'm still waiting.

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
