try running  sfc /scannow form Start>run command.
Keep ur WinXP CD nearby.
Try doing system file checker

start --> run --> typein "sfc /scannow" and press "enter"
keep your xp CD ready
If this problem has just started, u can also consider to do a System Restore.

Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in Windows XP:

Hi,

no, the 'sfc /scannow' didnt worked....
I cant do a system restore.... it is disabled right now because of a virus spread since last month
:-(
Well, it isnt really bad problem but its very annoiyng... if someone got another idea....

Thanks!!
Open My Computer from Desktop
Does it shows the same problem, means no TOP menus and toolbars there also ??
also can u send me a picture of ur windows explorer, my e-mail is sheharyaar_saahil@hotmail.com
Try this:

Press F11 on your keyboard while looking at your Windows Explorer.

Does it fixes it?

As for the cause, can't be determined exactly. May be your IE security settings are low and some malware has played it's part. Or, the toolbar layout values are corrupt in the Registry.

i'll take the second option... As i work in a large company, i barely have access to port 80... and its firewall is something.. :-/ But, what the hell, its working now.. that's all taht matters..
