Can't Start XP!!!

OK, so I had badly messed up my PC. I had shut off the power to turn the PC off as the PC wasn't responding at that point of time.

Now, when I turn on the PC, it loads until the start up screen (XP logo) it loads for a split second or so, then shows me the Blue screen. The blue screen stays for the same amount of time, and the computer restarts. I couldn't catch what the error was. However I do know that it ends with 2 characters. I think it could possibily be 0x000007B.

I tried reinstalling the XP all over again, but it doesn't work. From what the set up menu says, it says I have 75538 free space. That's my hard drive's full free space when formatted. The hard drive has been used and has only 2 GB left.

I have no idea what to do now, what do you suggest?

myderrick..  please try not to repeat steps already outlined by a fellow expert..  all of us frown on this..   That being said, thanks for expanding on SB's suggestion...

Hey FE if you have the time I would like to get your feed back on this Q I posted a while back.
Keep in mind there is no problem involved just a curiosity I have about something.

An update: I've tried the CHKDSK /R method, and all other method listed.

Bootcfg /repair didn't work, so i tired it with the parameter /rebuild. It says my HD is corrupt and asks me to run CHKDSK.

In CHKDSK /r it will hang at 51%, but the HD indicator on my case is blinking vigourously. Sometimes it totally lights up without blinking, and if i try precussive tactics (AKA hitting the hard drive), it will start blinking.

However, CHKDSK without the parameter works, the process will finish.

I'm increasing the points to 380. Hope this gets me more help. I really need it ARRRH.
