Windows checks drive at every startup
Hi,
I recently reformatted two partitions on my PC (C: and D:) since i reinstalled the OS. Now everytime when i startup XP it first runs a checkdisk on the D: drive ("windows needs to control diskspace on for consistancy...." etc). I let it run most of the time, it seems to do fine and the XP starts OK. The D drive is in use for programs and does not report any errors.
D drive was formatted using PartitioinMagic. C drive reformatted during reinstallation by the XP setup program.
But the chkdisk routine runs before every new start.
Why is this and how do i prevent it or fix it ?
If additional information is required, i will gladly supply it.
Thanks,
John

CrazyOne..... you are FAST !!
I deleted the BootExecute variable and now XP starts like a charm. My only worry: have a disabled a valid service now ?
I.o.w is the problem really fixed, or is it just masked ?
When i try to do an analyses before defrag on the D: drive i get a warning:
"Defrag has found that a chkdsk is planned for Volume D: Run chkdsk /f."
What does that mean ?
