Win XP error 1935

I'm getting: Error 1935. The error occurred during installation of assembly 'Microsoft.MSXML2,publicKeyToken="6bd6b9abf345378f",version=4.1..0.0,type="win32",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more...

This occurred after uninstalling Hallmark Card Studio 2004 Deluxe, followed by trying to open Broderbund Print Shop 20. The program opens and desplays card graphics but text inserted by me at an earlier time doesn't show (a small 'squiggly' appears). Their help message says may have too many fonts so uninstalled about 50 of them with no luck.

I used System Restore to go to an earlier checkpoint but no luck. Same with reboot. Same problem opening Print Shop 15 but an old Print Shop Deluxe works ok.

This error is normally attributed to the Windows Installer Service. You should download and install version 2.0. This has been documented to resolve the issue that you are experiencing.

You can download Windows Installer version two from the following website (this is the full download):

http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/default.htm?p=/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/psdkredist.htm

Or you can try the following:

Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows 95, 98, and Me
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cebbacd8-c094-4255-b702-de3bb768148f&DisplayLang=en

Windows Installer 2.0 Redistributable for Windows NT 4.0 and 2000
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4b6140f9-2d36-4977-8fa1-6f8a0f5dca8f&DisplayLang=en

What version of Windows do you have? If it is Windows XP, go to the Windows Update site, select "custom install" then select the option "review other updates" and check if Installer version 2 is listed (I think it may come by default with Windows XP SP1a or SP2).

Use the Msizap.exe utility to remove the Windows Installer information for the .NET Framework 1.0.

GOOD LUCk!!!
Engineerdell: The SDK update requires Core SDK and between them, it's over 1 gigabytes of data. Is that the track you want me to pursue or am I on the wrong track?
I would suggest you to go ahead and try with Framework 1.0 or 1.1, if that fails then install Core SDK..
Sorry, I've been called away for approximately a week. I'll pursue this when I return.
Please don't close this problem.

PS 15 is now running fine (uninstall, reinstall) but PS 20 fails installation. The messages seem to relate to PS so will contact Broderbund again before returning to this problem.
Let's close this one and award the points to LeeTutor. I finally gave up, unintalled Print Shop 20 and am using PS 15. The truth of the matter is I have been so busy helping others with their computer problems I couldn't find time to concentrate on my own.
Thanks.

Well, as I contributed only a couple of administrative comments as Page Editor to the question, it certainly shouldn't be awarded to me.  I'll go back to my original recommendation of PAQ with no points refunded.

ok
Like a Phoenix, I am arisen from the ashes...
The holidays gave me time to tackle this again so here is new input.
My machine had both Microsoft .net Framework 1.0 and 1.1 installed. I followed LeeTuror's recommendations(dealing with 1.0 only) but stopped short of turning off Windows Installer Service.

I also found a technote  (#37312) at Broderbund that explained how to uninstall Print Shop 15 if uninstall problems occured. I followed it and PS 15 seems to be deleted. A similar technote for PS 20 was much briefer and basically said to delete the folder under C:\Program Files, then reinstall PS 20. Unfortunately, the install program said there  "is evidence of a previous installation of PS 20 which should be dealt with first." Broderbund's tech help is off until Tuesday but I will contact them as the next step (they have obviously had prior problems in this area).
