I did what you suggested and within 5 seconds the result ... the volume is clean message came up, and then continued into the desktop without further ado. I restarted again to make quite sure and it went to the desktop without any problems again.Thankyou and regard

When I start XP, just after the XP Logo screen I &nbsp;receive an error message on a light blue screen saying, cannot find C:\systemroot\windows\syst<wbr />em32\autoc<wbr />hk.exe &nbsp;skipping autocheck. Then after a few seconds it continues to the desktop. Everything appears to be working ok except for Partition Magic. Whenever I start PM it comes up with its logo and then an eror message, int failed: error 504 File not found. I have uninstalled Partition Magic and restarted XP, but this same message still appears. I have checked this file, autochk.exe and it is definitely there. Can you help
