DLINK VAPGDecoder active-X causes IE6 to crash

The DLINK DCS 2100+ internet camera (with built-in webserver)requires the download of an Active X control from DLink to view the camera image in IE6. I downloaded this as per normal. However, now when I navigate to the camera, IE dumps itself immediately as soon as the webpage from the camera starts to load. if you don't install the control then IE is stable.

I have removed the control and reloaded it - no cure
I have looked in regedit and can see that this control is in a directory windows/downloaded program files/conflict.2/vapgde..etc but looking in C: directory I can only see downloaded program files/vapgde..etc. Even in DOS I can't access the ...conflict.2....directory. So maybe this is a hint as to where the problem lies but I don't know how to resolve it.

It works fine on other computers but not this one.

Post a HIjack This log, it will show all the active X controls installed, allow us to delete them, and see if maybe there is a conflict

It's pointing to something wrong with the file on the DLINK site. I just removed it from a working computer. Fired up IE and, as normal, it asks to download the control.
Downloaded it and now get exactly the same action by IE on this second computer. Could it be possible that there is some combination or sequence involved re IE fixes and this control? What I am thinking about is that I have the control installed...then download various IE security fixes and it's all OK but then if i delete the control and then try and load it again...but with these iE fixes now in place then something goes belly up? I do find that hard to follow especially as I did re-install XP on the first computer that exhibited this problem.

Very clean log, and nothing in there that should be causing trouble with the cameras Active X control.

Only thing thats odd are the first 2 entries, but i would guess those are proxies you set uip.

ONLY suggestion i have, is Fix the O16 with Hijack this, and reinstall it, and see if the behaviour continues, sorry i couldnt be more help than that.
