With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Windows Update Error 0x80072EE4

I have delayed installing SP2 until now (couldn't afford to chance having problems on this laptop), but have decided to go ahead now.

When I go to the Windows Update page and it searches for updates, it quickly comes back with this error:

Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.
Error number: 0x80072EE4

I realize that this is a SSL error caused if the date and time on my computer varies too much from the valid date and time of the SSL certificates on Windows Update (I haven't done updates since July 31).  I cannot find a resolution to this error anywhere on Microsoft Support.

Can you tell me how to eliminate the error so I may go ahead and install SP2 without having to order the CD?  I have everything backed up and ready to install SP2 and don't want to go through the entire procedure again.
