computer freezes and gets windows errors afterwards

Whenever I play games or listen to music, my computer will freeze and I have to restart. Afterwards, I'll get "windows has recovered from a serioius error" with errors C:\DOCUME~1\LEZARD~1.STU\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8021.dir00\sysdata.xml and C:\DOCUME~1\LEZARD~1.STU\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8021.dir00\Mini110204-01.dmp. Sometimes I'll even get a blue screen where it says windows has been shut down because an error has been detected. I have searched many sites and tried all their solutions: trying a new ram (Kingston 512MB RAM), trying a new video card (Geforce 4 TI 4200), updated the driver from Microsoft support page and every other available driver. What frustrates me the most is that I even bought a new motherboard (Abit NF7-2SG) and it still doesn't help! Does any one have any other ideas on how to fix it? My computer has been working fine for a couple years until my cousin messed up my hard drive and I had re-install windows, and the probelm started to occur during installation. Thanks so much to everyone for reading this and helping out.

Hi TW_TheSolution,

What's the error code on the BSOD's?
You can also find this information in the event viewer.
And if needed you can even get this information right from the dumpfile.
How to gather information after a memory dump in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314084/

http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm is a good start in solving these kind of problems.

Several things to look at:
1) Overheating
2) Drivers (start => run => type "sigverif" and press enter) all unsigned ones are suspect.

Greetings,

LucF
Your Windows crashes and writes a system event 1001 and a minidump to the folder \windows\minidump
Check system event 1001 and it has the content of the blue screen

Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> System -> Event 1001. Copy the content and paste it back here

I want your hardware configuration
Run msinfo32 and navigate to Hardware Resources > IRQs. Click anywhere in the right pane.  Press CTRL-A and then CTRL-C. Copy that data to the clipboard and paste that data here.

I also want your software list
Run  msinfo32 and navigate to Software > Program Group. Click anywhere in the right pane.  Press CTRL-A and then CTRL-C. Copy that data to the clipboard and paste that data here as well

There might be some problem with the registry. Better backup your drive and reinstall Windows.

Thanks to all that have replied
My error seems to be "0x1000007F", and AumHa Forums doesn't have a fix yet.
Recently, it would even freeze without any errors at all. It seems to be getting worse :(
LucF, what would be a temperature that would cause these kind of problems?

The first bugcheck parameter list is 0x0000000D: An exception not covered by some other exception; a protection fault that pertains to access violations for applications.
Refer to one of my resolved case and the problem owner had a similar problem
Mini121004-02.dmp  0x1000007F (0x0000000d, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
The problem re-installed Windows and the problem was fixed. The root cause may be the windows component was screwed during software installation or uninstall software
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21236265/Windows-XP-SP2-has-a-tendency-to-crash.html
The temperature for my computer is within the range so I don't think that is the cause. I looked further down the list of event ID 1001 and many other ones were 0x1000008e and one 0x000000C2, but those doesn't seem to be the cause since I already tried another RAM. I think I will re-install windows now and hopefully the problem will be gone. Thanks again to those that helped.
have you cleared the CMOS setting? Make sure you cleared it or else even if you reinstall windows, the problem might occurs again if the setting of RAM has been changed.
If you can attach the minidump of bugcheck 8E to any webspace, I will try my best to find out the culpit. You can find the minidumps from \windows\minidump.

I've extracted the procedure from EE leew how to get the webspace.
Go to www.geocities.com - sign up for an account (they are owned by Yahoo - if you have a yahoo account, then you just need to activate the geocities part of it there).

Then use their tools to upload the file.
Here's the link to the minidump: http://www.geocities.com/ironmonkey129/

Hope something can be found that's causing the problem.

Sincerely,
TW_TheSolution

cpc2004, thank you for processing the dumps and no, I don't have Nero installed. I don't think I have the blue screen problem before ungrading to sp2, but to save any more trouble I will re-install windows again. Last time when I was installing, I got the blue screen after the setup cd loaded all the drivers, hope that won't happen again.
I dunno why you can't copy the content to clipboard. Attach the minidumps to any webspace and I will examine the dump. You can find the minidump at the folder \windows\minidump. If you dunno know how to attach a file at webspace you can go to www.geocities.com - sign up for an account (they are owned by Yahoo - if you have a yahoo account, then you just need to activate the geocities part of it there).  Use their tools to upload the file.
Make sure when you reinstall, don't plug any unneccesary/extra device. Let Windows install the basic first and try to plug one device a time for Windows to load the driver. Some driver Windows uses its default Micosoft driver, it is better to use manufacturer driver.

I have heard some Microsoft default driver screwing up CD/DVD drives.

I'm sorry.  You can ignore my last post because it is wrong post.

Happy New Year!
Thanks to those that tried helping me. It turns out the problem was the CPU and I have send it back to AMD. Thanks so much again.
Good to hear you found what was bugging you.

Take care and happy new year,
