Windows Update through proxy connection.
Hi
I connect to the internet via a proxy server (Mandrake Linux 10.0) which requires authorization. I want windows automatic updates to download the updates and remind me when they are ready to be installed. There is a yellow windows update icon on my taskbar. When i point to the icon, it shows "Donloading updates 13%", but it has been like this for several days. I tried windows update website, but the download failed. I don't want to go to windows update manually.
Is there a registry value or key i can add to tell give windows my proxy authentication so that downloads are automated?
Thanks
Christo

You should set up your proxy server (Squid ?) to bypass all Windows update requests automatically, add Windwos Update website to the trusted sites list in the proxy server.

I did add it to the trusted list. I will check my server settings anyway.
