Can I reinstall the print spooler service?

The big probem with all this is it's my bosses pc, aint that just typical!

He has a HP 3845 connected to his PC via USB. Every couple of days or so it refuses to print. Prints will be sent to the queue, but will not print. He can however resend the same jobs to another (networked) printer. restarting the spooler service and unplugging and replugging the printer resolves the issue most of the time. But now the spoolsv.exe process has started going mental and hogging all the CPU. ending this process and restarting the spool service cures it. But I need to fix it for good. Is it possible to just "Reinstall" the spooler service? I don't really want to have to go through the phaff of reinstalling windows in it's entirety.

Many thanks

Rob
