With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Windows XP Error 0x8007007f , activation error, cannot check license

I'm installing to a Dell Dimension 4400 and when I install XP Home w/SP1 everything is fine.  once I upgrade to SP2 the system will give me an error as mentioned above, and after this every time I try to boot normally it would flash the blue stop screen and reboot right away not letting me read the screen.  If I try to boot in safe mode I get to the screen to click on a user, but no users are shown, not even administrator.

This appears to only happen when trying to install SP2, so how can I manage to get around this error? any ideas what could be causing this issue?

I also tried rebooting and going to safe mode with command prompt, and it brings me back to teh login screen, and I also tried reinstalling and repairing with the CD and no luck at that.
