Hi jhn431,

System Idle Process is a representation of what is NOT being used.

If it is showing High CPU usage - that means you have low CPU usage (confusing, i know)

Hope that helps,

Oh lol, Well for some reason I get something saying 50% CPU usage in task manager. When i'm playing games its very choppy when it does this. I can't seem to find anything thats taking up thecpu usage. In taskmanager it says 50% sometimes.
If you click on the CPU column it will sort it by usage - there will be something else in there using it up

If you are playing a game, you will find that will be what uses up the CPU quite a lot
if you are playing a game and it only gets to 50% is because your dual core CPU is only being half used by the game because thats how most games are written. can you check if the hard drive is doing stuff when it is choppy? could be a program is not even using much CPU but accessing the drive which will slow things down even worse.

Are you seeing other problems associated with this?
What games are you running?  & what are your system specs?
ex. Athlon750 w/128MB RAM is going to be very choppy running HL2
:)

as redseatechnologies said...

and if that is the case then it is time upgrade your machine.

is this a new problem?

if you are connect to internet true network RJ45 line disconnect it then see if it is going down

maybe your computer is infacted with spyware
Scan your computer for virus
something is installed from internet automaticaly that is useing the CPU start task manager
and disable its activity
Answer:

When a computer is Idle it will have a high System Idle process under the CPU, often in the 90's. This is completely normal for a computer as it waits for something to do. If you leave the Task Manager open and run a program, you will notice that the System Idle process decreases its CPU usage.

(((O))))  Try reinstalling the windows (((O))))

You could check your SCU and see which programs you no longer really require:

It's also worth bearing in mind that you may have a Malware or virus problem, as already suggested above.
