asked on

backing up servers using NTbackup

We just got a new large client and they are a mess. They have about 14 servers with no active directory and stuff is all over the place. They have no backup solution and they asked us to create an immediate backup solution. So we told them we'd put in a 1.5 TB NAS until we get the tape backup in. However, they dont have backup software. I guess i have to use NTbackup. It doesn't look like NTbackup in Windows will allow you to backup to a remote location. It says that \\servername\path is not valid. Any ideas how i can backup these servers?

whoops, nevermind. I wasn't putting in a valid name for the file. Once i did, the \\servername\paht was okay. But if anyone has some good advice about NTbackup and the situation the points are still valid.
