Where can i download MATLABorMATCAD? any matlab project suggestions?

hello all, i have a school project to

"Build a professional quality HTML tutorial web site on the use and application of MatLab or MathCAD. Student will provide screen captures, examples, hyperlinks, downloadable documents, etc...Topic must include the use of MatLab or MathCAD to solve some specific engineering problems"

I am not sure where to download matlab/matcad from? any suggestion for a good, fairly easy topic(doable in 2days!) relevant to the project as described above are appreciated.
