The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. A.C. Clarke's unique ID vs. global daily birth counts

I recently reread 3001: The Final Odyssey and one item prompted me to pose this question.  What is a reasonable upper limit on the number of births in a single day (world wide)?

Everyone in the 3001 society had a palm chip with a unique identifier of the following format:
Lastname, Firstname [Genderyyyy.mm.dd/nn.nnn//optional data]

Gender: F | M

Clarke writes: "But we all know our date of birth, and no more than 99,999 other people will share it.  So a five-figure number is all you'll ever need..."

A quick calculation with this assumption establishes a global birth count maximum of 36,499,635 people per year.  However, if I assume that the global population will reach 10 billion and use the current US birthrate of 20/1000 people, then 200,000,000 might be born in a year.

MY QUESTION:
Where is the disconnect, wrong assumption, or miscalculation?

Note:
There was a recent industry study that stated that a unique health ID would be very beneficial for everyone.  This prompted me to consider Clarke's ID in 3001, since he was such a visionary.
