The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Windows Media Player 9.0 / .wmv files

Tags: wmv, file
Kind of 3 questions in one here:

Windows media Player 9.0:

1)  Whenever I open Windows Media Player 9.0, and go to "Media Library" I always have to click on the "Artist" column to sort the songs by the artist.  Is there a way I can get it to do this automatically?

.WMV Files:

2) If I go to a folder and highlight a .wmv file, (using Windows XP) a preview picture of the movie comes up in "Details" section of the folder.  But if the .wmv is protected content, no preview comes up.  Can I change this?

3) Is there any freeware out there that I can use to trim/edit .wmv files?

I donot think there is any setup in windows media player for Question 1. You may have to check for plug-ins or updates.

Question 2 may be against EE rules .You are asking solution to a question which is against privacy and i dont think it should be answered

Hi Sunray, thanks for your ideas.

About question 1, it seems Microsoft don't really want people editing .wmv files, and probably it's not going to be easy to do   :(

About question 2, I actually own the license for the protected content of the .wmv file, and I can watch it when I double click on it, I just wondered how can I get Windows XP to show me a preview of the file when I just highlight it, like it does with non-protected wmv files.

Cheers

I assume

>> About question 1, it seems Microsoft don't really want people editing .wmv files, and probably it's not going to be easy to do   :(
 is question 3.

and

Abt question 2 even though you have got permission to do , windows thinks that it is protected and that it should not give the preview just because of simple reason "what if somebody else is trying to get the preview". It is clever enough not to show preview but show you once you give the permission to see

I found that "Windows Movie Maker" which comes free, bundled with Windows XP, will edit .wmv files (although you cant edit protected-content wmv's)

Why is the content protected?  See if you can unprotect it, if you "own" the rights.... unless you just own the rights to view and not edit.... thus the protected content  :o)

I have an excel file with all of my quote and PO info. When i want to hyperlink one of the quotes and right click a hyperlink box comes up with current folder, browsed pages and recent files. There are some files in browsed pages (wmv) that i would like to delete but am unable. The only time i see them is in the hyperlink box under browsed pages.
Internet options delete files or cookies doesn't work. what should i do?
