I can't think of any programs offhand that can fix corrupt .jpg files.

Browse All TopicsHi guys
I am looking for some softwares that can repair corrupt JPG and AVI files.
Acutally, I formatted the hard drive but later found out some of the important files were not backed up so I purchased a software called Getdataback NTFS. Before formating the hard drive those files were OK. It recovered all those files but unfortunately half of them appears to be corrupted.
I used Videofixer 3.23 to recover Avi files unfortunately it recovered only 11 out of 137.
I have no idea whether there is any software that can repair JPG files. File's size seem OK but can't be opened.
Please suggest me which softwares can repair corrupt JPG and AVI files.
Thanks in advance.

and for jpg(image files) u can check the following utility, if it works for u:
http://www.brothersoft.com
!! GOOD LUCK !!
You can try this one for JPG - I've used it on Flash media, but there's no reason for it not to work on a HD.
http://www.datarescue.com/
It has a free demo that allows you to see what the program will recover in thumbnail form, but not save it. Saving it will cost you $29
Hope that helps,

If all these utilities don't work, it may be that GetDataBack didn't succeed in fully restoring all your files.
If you haven't seen it before, here's a FAQ on GetDataBack:

(In particular, see #Q. I cannot open the recovered files. Why?)
jpeg files might not be the original if you recovered them. Some softwares, such as for eMail, made temporary copies when sending, and only sent half. So maybe you did recover the whole thing - a half, but not the original. Solution should be to find the originals, after all, they were not created first on the HD. If you have real thing, possibly it is one that was trimmed logically, so try a photo editer to see if it can be unsnipped.
