Sonicstage; A load of crap, any alternative?

I've got a sony MD Walkman NZ-N710, it's a great little thing. The only problem is sonicstage the program you get with it, it's a real pain in the arse to use and I've got no idea of how to download the contents of a mimidisc on to my PC. So I'd like to know of any other programs I could use (freeware would be good).
