The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Illegal?  Quite possibly, NOT.

Asked by famousnametaken in Miscellaneous

I'm just curious as to what some people think.

If I borrow a friend's store bought dvd and just forget to return it to him and months go by and he forgets about it.  One day I mention I have it and he says "it's cool" or "just get it to me whenever you can no worries" or "just take it, i've seen it,"  that's legitimate right? The authorities and MPAA aren't gonna come in and bust down my door for borrowing a friend's dvd! Then,  I've seen a movie I didn't have to pay for.  AGAIN, seen a movie, I DIDN'T pay for...

Now if a friend of mine let's me borrow (share) his music files from his computer or let's other people have access to what he's bought online or in stores, why is it illegal for him to share it or let people get it from him when it's hypothetically the same situation as above?  This might get complicated, but try not to stretch it too far ya know?  Millions of people share things with eachother without ever PURCHASING the product, ect.

Why is downloading music that could only have been  purchased from somewhere, illegal?  Yes we're not paying for it, but we use it as it's meant to be used and if willing share (let borrow) other people to do the same.  Possibly, one mans junk, is another man's treasure...if i don't need it, why can't i give it away?  That's what Goodwill stores are for and they make money off what we give them, FOR FREE! LOL.

This might get rough, but I like to hear other's opinions...it intrigues me :)
