Direct TV internet - is it any good?

I would like to move away from Comcast for internet and tv as they charge a ton of money for marginal service. ( I do like the HD/DVR combo unit though...) My promo prices for signing up with them 6 months ago are going to be going away in a few months and I was hoping to go to someone else. It seems my only other option is Direct TV. Does anyone know if they are any good for internet? I found one posting that said they were horrible and dial-up was better but I dont know the source. Or does anyone know of other providers that service the Seattle area?

Verizon, please get your act together and get that FIOS network installed in the pacific northwest! :)
