The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Humidity in a small computer room.

Tags: room, computer, humidity
I have a small computer room which I am cooling using 2 MovinCool boxes.  The AC's work great and do their job.  However, the suck all the humidity out of the air and we are noticing a lot of static electricity.

I would like to get humidity in to the room but I am not sure what is the best and least expensive way.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Louis

I have two humidifiers of this style:
http://www.amazon.com/VICKS-SESAME-STREET-FRIENDS-HUMIDIFIER/dp/B000MF7HZY/ref=sr_1_118/102-5438172-4060136?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1179244321&sr=1-118

The ones I have don't have Sesame Street characters on them, but the design is the same. The tank holds about a gallon and a half, and lifts off for filling elsewhere. (You don't need to carry water to the humidifier in a different container.) The water wicks into a filter, and air is blown through that filter to humidify it. The air doesn't get so humid as to have condensation issues if set next to something (such as a wall), but it does a good job of kicking moisture into the air. We use one of these in our bedroom in the winter. The filters are easily replaced (and available at Wal-Mart and Kmart), and the wet parts of the machine are easily cleaned.

On low, the humidifier is pretty quiet. On high (it only has two settings), it's a fair amount of white noise. So, if this is a room that people will be working in, too, you might need to consider that.

Hope this helps.

I was kinda hopping for a more permanent solution.  I do not mind spending the money I just do not want to have to maintain it.  Adding water is a maintenance task for me.

While I don't know of a stand alone solution, I can simply offer a few tips for your research...

Have you contacted MovinCool to see if they have a humidifier solution? It would be best to have a integrated solution.

As far as "Adding water is a maintenance task for me." - the water has to come from some where and if you don't add it, it will have to be plumbed in with something similar to a ice maker water supply.

Make sure you find a self regulating system. If you over humidify you can cause as much damage as the static from low humidity.
