hi magnetic_kisser, i always use the google website (http://images.google.com) to search for sample formats of inviations, photographs, anything with graphics, etc. i would really, really recommend this, it's easier, because you could view the real examples.

there a lots of invitations and i used these keywords
1) graduation party invitation
2) party invitation

PS. i'm also surprised by Merete's comment that i re-read magnetic_kisser's question. *winks*

A quick card technique I use is to set a page in Word or OO Writer or what ever to landscape and divide it into two columns.  I insert a table in one column, place my info in cells, merging them as needed and then I hide the table borders when I am finished the basic layout.  Make any further adjustments and then copy the table to the other column. So I have two on a sheet and I can get them cut down the middle and   I am done.

Grab a nice photo of your sister and decorate in colours she likes. It doesn't have to be super formal.
Maybe you could use a baby picture and a current picture.  Provided she won't beat you up over that.

Make it special and have fun with it after all its a celebration.
All the best to your sister.
