I've never seen it abbreviated.
Standard use/syntax I've always seen and used is ''Please find [whatever it is you're including], attached.''
I believe the files sent along with electronic mail are named attachments after what they've been called in business correspondence since long before computers were invented.
You might find a copy of the AP Stylebook handy. The last time I saw a new one (2006?) they were only about $12. Hope that helps!
