I dont subscribe to cable tv but I use the cable from the modem and split it going into my PC for internet and then a tv for shows. The picture quality is very good for maybe 5 channels, with one channel (CTV in Canada) being scrambled and it has a ghost image. I bought a TV card for my PC hoping it would get better picture quality as well as a small tv for the bedroom.
Since I was splitting the cable now four ways between two tvs, pc for internet and pc for tv - the picture quality and internet quality went down big time. Internet quality has always been a little flaky so I
bought a booster as seen here:
http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=VideoAmplifiers&product=1512506Now everything is good. Except for one thing. The one channel (CTV) is still poor quality and unwatchable on the living room tv and the PC TV. However on the small bedroom tv, the picture is fine (along with all the other channels). Any reason why? And is there any reason to fix this?
Here are some facts (when I refer to cable source I mean the cable booster which is connected to the main cable box on a 2 ft cable):
- The bedroom tv is the furthest away from the cable source (about 20 to 30 feet) and runs off one cable
- All cables are the same "high" quality cable (no dollar store brand)
- The PC TV is the closest and shortest link to the cable source
- Connecting the living room or pc TV directly to the cable modem doesnt improve the quality
So any ideas why a simple $100 14 in tv, outdoes a 500 living room tv? Is there anything I can do?
