Can I add an LED to this DC circuit?

Is there a way to add an LED light to the DC circuit below?  When the LED is wired in
series as shown in the diagram, it lights but only enough power gets to the siren to make
it "growl".  If the LED is wired in parallel, the siren blasts at full level, but
the LED does not light.  The LED is a Radio Shack model 276-279 and has no
further specs.

I'm not an electrical engineer so any solution needs to be pretty basic. Perhaps it's
not even possible.
