I have Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 installed on my PC. I need to find a way to download the complete installation files for Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 for Windows 98, NT, 2K, ME and XP. I believed that I had found just the thing on Webpage
http://www.broomeman.com/s
However, I followed the instructions on that Webpage and the procedure terminated with no error messages or explanation every time I tried it. I suspect that the "Command" that the Webpage suggested that I use is a little too cryptic for me to figure out. Anyway, I know that you guys are plenty smart and can tell me how to perform this task with no problems whatsoever. I would prefer to have five different folders, each with the installations files for its Internet Explorer 6.0 version. Thanks in advance.

Steve:
Your answer takes me to the same "Wizard" that I found using the link:
http://www.broomeman.com/s
The results, for me are the same. The wizard terminates while it is gathering the infomation I want to download for the particular operating system I first chose. It creates the folder on my Hard Drive and places two files in it, "filelist.dat & iesetup.dir". It goes no further than that. So, no, your suggestion did not help me at all.

Get them while the last.
If you haven't already, try running the official download command (ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E") from an older version of Windows. I had the same problem as JWILKEY when trying to download IE 6 from Windows XP Pro. (SP1), but the same command worked fine from an installation of Windows 2000 Server (SP4). Perhaps Microsoft hasn't fully tested IE6SETUP.EXE in Windows XP, assuming XP users won't need to download IE 6 because it's already integrated into the OS.
Seems like microsoft made some kind of mistake here. You have to add the /d:1 option that is
/c:"ie6wzd.exe /d:1 /s:""#E"
should be run instead orelse the setup program thinks you wants to install IE6 to your current platform which is Win XP. But if you use /d:1 all platforms will be choosen as standard and you can just uncehck the boxes of the OPs you don´t want. This seems to be just like your first try (in the end only Win 98 is checked) except know it will work, the wizard won´t be interrupted.
Good luck.
Hello all,
All of your suggestions are of no use to this individual except for spiderfix's download link at planetmirror.com. The issue with the 'ie6setup.exe /C:"/d /s:""E#"' command is this:
I have a WinXP box that just plain won't connect to MS Win Update. Anyway, I tried the above command on my Windows 2000 Server SP4 box, which I had already upgraded to IE6 SP1. The download abruptly halts at around 7MB. It said something about losing the internet connection. Strangely enough, the text displayed in the wizard was that it was checking the signature of Internet Explorer. So I went into the registry and hacked the Internet Explorer Build, Version, and W2kVersion values. That didn't work either. IE6SETUP.EXE is actually checking the iexplorer.exe binary signature in the exectuable. You can't really trick it, unless you turn of Windows File Protection and temporarily rename iexplorer.exe (and I'm not even sure that that would work).
Again, I

There's a a link on that page that leads to here... .com/pub/m icrosoft/i e/6.0sp1/
e.com/Q_20 763918.htm l spiderfix explains that the above link is for the German version of IE. If you want the English version, please see his final comment below.

...why not just download it.
