Question

free ebooks download - how and where?

Asked by: doc12321

Greetings to Experts and everyone else!

I have been struggling a lot searching for a site where I can download ebooks for free. Some of the ones that I have found require login and password that I have to pay for to receive. I am particularly interested in such boos as Database Programming with VB . NET, Dreamweaver MX Bible (with examples and pictures that are required to complete all the tutorials in the book), Internet and WWW (by Deitel and Deitel), Advanced Java How to Program, etc.

Thanks a LOT

Thanks hidden14, but what I am actually looking is books like:

1. Dreamweaver MX Bible (with all the pictures and code that is needed for the tutorials in the book)
2. Dreamweaver Savvy (with all the pictures and code that is needed for the tutorials in the book)
3. Database Programming with Visual Basic .NET
4. Other VB .NET publications by Wrox Press and others
5. Advanced Java How to Program

What the link led to is another site with quite useful info but the books that one can more or less easily find.

Maybe anyone knows a server (with password and login if needed) or a shared folder somewhere where all these books are stored

You may find that you can download some of these books from a Perr 2 Peer server, something like Morpheous or WinMX

I recommend looking in Imesh, Kazaa, Limewire, Morpheus etc.
The only other option you have is to go out and buy them which is much easier...

I did come across this though which may be of interest to you.

Thanks Experts for your suggestions and recommendation.

Yeah, but my questions seems not to be anwered precisely as I want it to. YOu have given me some links and suggestions to go and buy the books. But what I really want is not the books that are available freely, the links pointed at them but rather the books that one has normally to pay for. Example:
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX Bible
Cyber Classroom by Deitel & Associates, etc.
About p2p programs. I have tried KaZaa and e-Mule. Kazaa is not very effective in finding documentation, better for searching music i think. While eMule finds what I look for but completely FAILs to download it. Just does not start downloading or does it EXTREMELY slow.

You may think that I am a total freebie, but in fact I am not capable to buy books on my own because of the financial constrains and my location on the world map...

Waiting for Answers,

ps: I promise to give away the points to the one who answers on my question completely,

Thanks

In order to obtain the books you state above for FREE, you will have to use a p2p program, as you are not going to find ANY site on the web that will provide these for free.

Personally I use WinMX. Make sure you select All files and then search on 'e-books'.

Bear in mind that unless you have a fast connection to the web you will have to be patient, especially if you are not willing to put your hand in your pocket!!!

As Paul Buckle mentioned, you will have to use p2p programs..

The following web page includes lots of edonkey links for ebooks:
http://forums.shareconnector.com/viewtopic.php?t=5062

it have links to the books:
Wiley,.Dreamweaver.MX.Bible
Sybex,.Dreamweaver.MX.and.Fireworks.MX.Savvy
.NET books

and many more.. you might find it useful..

in order to download the files, you should use eDonkey program..

good luck!

Not to be the thought-police here, but SheharyaarSaahil must be asleep. You know they give you 'strikes' for recommending illegal activities (anything to do with hacks, cracks, and downloading copywritten works through file-sharing or any other method) and will eventually cancel your account? A word to the wise my friends...

ChrisPy

Oh, and to answer the original poster, for the books you want (ie new, up-to-date) you are either gonna have to buy them, or gonna have to steal them. If someone is offering them for free , most (very) likely, they are illegal as well.

If using P2P programs are considered to be illegal.. as ChrisPy mentioned.. Then you ought to spend some money doc12321..

Thanks for your "word to the wise" ChrisPy :)

Books for very new applications will not be available freely.

All publishers are trying to make money with books for programs and are not going to give them away for free. There are sites where you can get/view book from older applications.

The best you can hope for is tutorials/guides written by individuals  and there are millions of sites with programming tutorials but ofc you have to read them online.

Perhaps what  you should be asking is how to convert webpages into ebook format.

"If using P2P programs are considered to be illegal.. " they are not... unless used to disseminte copywritten works...

OK, now I need to get off here and finish watching my 'backup' copy of The Matrix ;)

Hello to everyone!
Thank you all for your responses. I accepted the answer of middenface... But my question as i think is not fully answered...
the case is that i already knew most of the suggestions offered by experts (except for the answer that middenface offered) and they are all not what i am looking for since KaZaa is bad at searching for the ebooks, Emule is too slow, and WinMX does not work for me. the sites that you offered provide links and downloads of the books that are distributed freely anyways, and what i am looking for is the high-quality,  expensive-sometimes commercial books on the topic of computing and everything related

My Thanks go to everyone and so does my appreciation for your time and efforts!!!

Hi there,

Did you try searching for them in directories through Google?
If not try the search string -
    "index of" "parent directory" <bookname>

try not to be too specific in the name. You might find something useful. You can also append  'filetype:pdf' to search for only pdf files.
