I personally use Getright Pro.
It has always done me well, without it for example i can pull at about 1MB/sec off my ISPs mirror.. with it I can pull at 2MB/sec. Getright standard is great as well (i use pro for the Upload feature).

Stuart

Free, I'd say this one:

and if you're willing to pay, I think getRight is better:

A good free one is Download accelerator plus (DAP), which can be downloaded from http://www.speedbit.com

DAP is ok, i used it for a while. I love getright though.

i would prefer flashget... ve been using it 4 quite some time now.... very happy with its performance..

I've used a number of download accelerators too, and the two I liked best are the Star downloader free version (which I don't know if it is still available now or not, because its been quite a long time since I had that one) and the one I presently use is Flashget and Flashget has a lot of useful features, such as allowing you to load multiple download URLS into it at once.  Flashget also is clean freeware.

If you use Mozilla Firefox, try DownThemAll. It integrates seamlessly with Firefox & requires next to no configuration.

nobody mentioned

internet download manager ....connect 15 connections simultaneously ....i gave my vote to this one and DAP !!

by: amitojduggalPosted on 2007-07-13 at 02:20:13ID: 19479085

magnetic_kisser is right IDM (internet download manager) is the best download manager there is(its not free).
DAP is useless crapware.Browser addon can never really compete with large files that a stand alone download manager can do.
Flashget has memory usage issues with large files also and on vista it isnt good at all.
orbit and getright are good enough as well.BUT IDM is the best bocause it gets the highest possible speeds.

I really do not know why people ignore IDM
Internet download Manager will suck up every bit from ur bandwidth.. It is really fast not free though

by: coldfiredesignsPosted on 2009-08-12 at 21:53:13ID: 25085514

The best download manager is IDM. Its been the best sine years. The only drawback is that it is paid.
You can download it from http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/

IDM is the download manager i have been using for years and it has all the power that none of the others have. Even with my GPRS connection (in 2000), it helped alot. IDM is the fastest and consistent one.
