This question probably doesn't belong in here but anyway...

In connection with an ongoing project that I am working on I need opinions on what makes us like or dislike certain sounds, smells or tastes.

Are our tastes passed on from our parents? - For example if both my parents like the taste and smell of onions does this mean that I will be predisposed to liking onions or am I born with a clean slate?
Is it only the genes that make up your appearance that are passed on? I read somewhere that we also inherit allergies and a predisposition to certain diseases - so tastes aswell?

Music: what determines whether we like one type of music or another, is it because you listen to one particular variety of music more and it grows on you - the more you listen to something the more you like it? - I am sure I could sit and listen to R&B all day and not develop a liking for it. Perhaps it is something that is engraved in to us when we are very young, perhaps over a very long period of time?

Take 2 identical twins with exactly the same upbringing, one likes onions the other hates them. Is this situation possible? - how would it come about, is it due to the tastebuds being physically different or the development of the brain or something completely different?
