Science, Religion, Proof or lack therof and perpetuation

I find it fascinating that people are willing to readily accept some things on faith yet not others. Think about the following two situations:

1.) A physcist comes up with a theory (let us use relativity as an example). His work is reviewed by others in his field, published, and tested. If the observations and experiments are valid, the theory eventually is taught.

2.) A preacher comes up with a sermon about God. His work is heard by a congregation of peers, and believed as many have observed in their own "little expirements" that the sermon is true. The sermon sticks and is perpetuated.

There are many theories in physics that you can't directly observe evidence for. YET, they are just accepted from indirect evidence. I'll wager that no one here can adequately (mathematically and concisely explain the theory of relativity. They will provide a link for sure but can they decipher the mathematics and what they mean? Oh, you will say no but there are those who can. Well, are there not preachers who can do the same with thier craft? Why do you not accept what they say just like you do the scientist?

Sure there is experimental evidence for relativity, however, only a select few have witnessed this....they are expensive and require specialized set ups. You, for sure, have not directly seen this evidence. You take it blindly on faith that people are tellin you the truth. Why is thier word so much easier to believe than say the billions of people who believe in God with thier own "personal little experiments"?

Are these handful of scientists the new preist whose word is taken without question because we ourselves can not verify? If "they" told you your TV worked by "qartiks that tunnel from jupiter" and the other preists agreed you would blindly belive?

You, my fellow humans, accept so very much on faith, yet you deride and argue vehemetly against something else that requires just what you exercise each minute of the day. Why?
