Tolerance

Tolerance has become a highly fashionable buzz-word recently in politically-correct circles. Have we taken it too far? Take, as example, the observations from this article - http://www.suntimes.com/output/steyn/cst-edt-steyn16.html

If we are intolerant of intolerance, does that make us intolerant or very tolerant?

The "religious right" are vilified as intolerant when they hold a view as absolute and don't allow for other possibilities. Is this intollerance, or confidence? Is intollerance the belief that others are wrong, or the inability to allow them to believe what they believe, even if you think they are wrong.

Is there a double standard between the two above examples?
