The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

The following is a joke that some may find offensive. That is precisely why I am posting it here. What I would like to discuss is the nature of the offensiveness of the joke. Later on I will post an equivalent. If you guess what the equivalent is - you may have heard it - please refrain from posting it here.

Here goes:

The Christian

A Christian is captured by the Romans. One fine day he is brought to the Coliseum and shoved into the arena.

Blinking against the bright light of the day he slowly starts to take in his surroundings. There is the Emperor and his entourage in the VIP seats. The crowd is chanting. Then he looks around him.

And sees the lion coming toward him.

"OH MY GOD" he thinks. "I'm going to be eaten alive". He starts praying fervently. "Dear God. Let this chalise pass me by." Nothing happens. "Dear Jesus, deliver me from this evil". Nothing.

Suddenly he realises why. And he prays again. "Dear God. I know you cannot change what is in the hearts of these evil men. After all you gave them Free Will so they can choose freely to follow you. But that lion is a dumb animal. Surely you can change it? Dear God, please make the lion a devout Christian."

Suddenly the lion stops.

The Christian looks at the lion in wonder. "It worked!" he thinks to himself.

And then the lion puts his front paws together, devoutly looks up into the sky, and says

"For this food that I'm about to receive, I thank you, Lord"
