Experts' Call to vote.
I'm going to make a posting in this thread every time I place a clean-up notification in a posting that has not had a substantive response to the thread question in over 21 days. This new process cleaned-up 17 threads so-far (two were closed by the asker). Another 12 have been notified, as mentioned in the posting below.
A. It would be a more valuable result if I were not the only one voting. Eligible voters are the top 15 Experts in P&R and any substantive participant in the thread being cleaned-up. Voting can be made in the thread up to 8 days following the timestamp of the clean-up notice, but the asker still has the first four days to close it - same as the regular clean-up, as explained in the thread. So far, the only other voters have just voted for their own postings (there's nothing wrong with that, if they believe their's is the best answer).
However, the awarded answers (or call them responses) would have more credibility in the PAQ database, if experts appeared to be voting objectively. IMO, eligible voters should consider voting for up to three postings that best satisfy the following six criteria (If there aren't three then pick one or two. In other words, don't pick three just because you have three votes).
The criteria in order of importance, IMO:
1. A full, thorough and comprehensive answer/response to the thread question(s)
2. A direct answer/response to the thread question(s).
3. An answer/response that is clear and well reasoned or presented *
4. Alternative answers/responses that are thought provoking or provide an opposite viewpoint.
5. An answer/response that is informative or enlightening, but not necessarily a direct answer to the thread question.
6. The posting has minimal off-topic discussions or distractions in addition to the other criteria
* This should not be taken as excluding members who don't have the best English language skills. Never has, IMO. The important thing is to get ideas properly presented and not be overly concerned about lack of language skills.
A posting with a violation of EE guidelines (for example, no flaming or improper language) might be edited or rejected.
B. Please subscribe to this thread, because I will use the postings to announce which threads have entered the P&R 8-day clean-up process. For some eligible voters (top 15 experts who did not subscribe to the thread) this might be the only notice they receive before it's over.
