What Is Love?

Religious comments aside please.

I spent the past thirty years of my life living with someone whom I had once thought I was in love with. The past 18 years of that I came to question this as we began a slow descent into separation. I've since moved into the basement apartment of the house that I own and have fallen in love with someone whom I met right here on EE. And when I say fallen, I mean lock, stock and barrel. I would give my life for this man. He takes my breath away and has given me a reason to live. I've never felt such happiness or euphoria without the use of drugs (from my days as a hippy). He makes me want to be a better person and has changed the way I look at things.

What I want to know is, what is the difference between falling IN love and just simply loving someone? I still love and care about the man I married but I'm very certain now that I was never really IN love with him. Why?

I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this.
