The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

The Grade of the Solution
The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
The Number of Author and Expert Comments
The Number of Experts Contributing
The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. How biased are you?

The article makes for some interesting reading. One of the findings I thought intriguing (under the heading "Implicitly Yours") was the one in which researchers showed that people form biases quickly and, even when shown that the original bias was incorrect, they stay with it; that is, even when the conscious mind *knows* the bias is unfounded, the bias remains.

I post this here in the P&R TA because I think that religious beliefs are in some ways similar to bias; they are "opinions" formed early in life that can rarely be shaken by logic -- regardless of the quality of the argument or even the absolute proof presented.

As with most P&R threads, there is no specific "question" to answer here. But there is plenty of "meat" for discussion. So, I'll start you off...

* Did you take the an IAT test? Which one? Were you surprised at how
biased you are?
* Psychologists are split as to how valid or useful IAT-type tests are...
do you have an opinion?
* Have you ever changed your opinion about a religious matter after
somebody proved that your underlying assumptions were false?

Use these as a starting point, or ask your own related questions and explore your own and other people's biases. The floor is open...
